Auric Exchange, physical board game and playing pieces
Illustrative presentation. Component specifications take precedence over the appearance of this rendering.

Auric Exchange is an economy game built around a small but persistent question: what else could this coin do? Trade resources, reserve contracts and build a sequence of exchanges while your opponents compete for the same openings.

Keeping an efficient reserve matters as much as pursuing a large contract. The economy is entirely represented by game pieces; coins have no monetary value and there is no gambling mechanism.

Sequence of decisions

  1. Read the exchange

Inspect current contracts and available resources.

  2. Allocate your coins

Trade, reserve or invest in the move that advances your plan.

  3. Settle a contract

Complete its requirements and score before the market moves on.

DECISION ANALYSIS

Assess what remains after the exchange.

A contract can be attractive and still leave an awkward reserve. Consider the resources it consumes and the exchanges that remain possible once it is settled. The opportunity cost is visible on the table: coins assigned to one route are no longer available to another.

Give the system an unhurried session

Auric Exchange has the longest published time in the Larunove catalogue, at 45–60 minutes. Allow additional space in the evening for a first explanation. Player reference cards help orient the table, while keeping resources distinct from contract cards makes a developing plan easier to inspect.

Three systems. Three forms of commitment.

Player observations

Describe the decisions that matter, rather than the result alone. These are unverified visitor assessments and should be read in that context.
